Lord's Prayer keychain

We've been focusing on the Lord's Prayer for Lent, and as a take-away for each week, folks have been invited to add beads to a keychain. Here are descriptions for each bead, and (when available) links to what I purchased:

Our Father, who art in heaven

A black bead* recalls the empty void from which the Creator God called forth life, as well as the rich darkness of the heavens.

Hallowed be thy name

A clear & gold bead recalls the beauty and purity of God’s holiness. A letter bead represents all the names for God in scripture – choose a letter that represents the name you call God most often.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

A purple bead recalls the royalty and majesty of God’s kingdom.

On earth as it is in heaven

A globe bead is for “earth” and a star bead (it glows in the dark!) is for “heaven”.

Give us this day our daily bread;

A brown wooden bead* recalls a loaf of bread, to remind us of all that God provides for us.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us;

A silver mirror bead reminds us that we are forgiven, and are also called to forgive others.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

A red heart bead reminds us that God loves us and is with us, even in the midst of the temptation and evil we face.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

A gold bead recalls the unending power and glory of God and God’s reign. Finally, add a cross charm to remind us of Jesus, who taught us to pray in this way.

*The black and brown wooden beads came from this same pack.
