I borrowed/inherited this recipe for communion bread from one of the pastors who served my home congregation, St. Michael Lutheran in Virginia Beach, Virginia. It is a simple recipe for unleavened honey wheat bread. It was a favorite of my seminary community, and I've also made it with kids during communion workshops, to be shared with the whole congregation during communion on the next Sunday.
Enjoy!

Honey-Wheat
Communion Bread
3 c.
whole wheat flour
1 c.
enriched flour
2
tsp. baking powder
3/4
c. honey
1/2
c. oil (flaxseed or canola)
1 c.
water
Mix
dry ingredients. Add wet ingredients. Hand mix, knead thoroughly. Form any
number of equal loaves. Grease a cookie pan (I use parchment paper instead) and place dough on it, rolling
flat (about 1/4 in. thick). Score a cross or fish lightly on the top. Bake at
350* for 15 minutes. To store, wrap in tinfoil, place in Ziploc, refrigerate. Bread can
be frozen up to two weeks, one day to defrost.
